Grievance Cell

MES College Chathamangalam has established a Grievance Redressal Committee in each department to address student concerns related to Internal Assessment grades. The committee includes the Class Tutor, one senior faculty member, and student representatives from each class, with the Head of the Department serving as the Chairperson. This structure ensures that academic grievances are handled promptly and fairly within the department itself.

At the institutional level, a College Grievance Redressal Committee is constituted by the Principal, who also serves as its Chairperson. The committee comprises three faculty members nominated by the College Council—at least one of whom is a woman—along with the Chairman and Secretary of the College Union as ex-officio members. This committee convenes monthly to review actions taken, issue guidelines, and ensure a peaceful and student-friendly atmosphere across the campus.

Anti-Ragging Cell

Anti-Ragging Policy

Ragging is a criminal offence liable for severe punishment including expulsion from the college. Once incidents are reported, immediately after spot enquiry, the cases are handed over to the police, and those involved will have to face serious legal consequences.

College-Level Punishments (UGC Guidelines)

Considering the serious nature of the offence of ragging, all students are advised not to involve in any activity that comes under the purview of ragging. Ragging cases will be seriously dealt with at the college level and judicial level. The UGC has issued very strong and detailed regulations for curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions. As per regulations, any of the following acts come under the purview of ragging:

Anti-Ragging Committee & Anti-Ragging Squad

The Anti-Ragging Cell is a committee which includes the Principal, HoDs of various departments, PTA executive committee members, student representatives and the anti-ragging cell coordinator. At the onset of every academic year, the committee gives orientation lectures to students of the college to make them aware about the anti-ragging laws, consequences of ragging, etc. Posters are displayed all over the campus along with the helpline numbers. The details regarding activities of the Anti-Ragging Cell are available in the college handbook.
